      • In an impressive showing, 16 O'Melveny lawyers and 30 practice areas are recognized in the 2009 edition of Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business. Six lawyers were ranked in the top tier in their respective practice areas.

      • In O'Melveny's best showing in the publication to date, 78 lawyers and 39 practice areas are recognized in the 2009 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Four O'Melveny practices and eight lawyers are ranked in the top tier.

      • O'Melveny received top-tier rankings in three practice areas, and five Firm lawyers were named "Leading Lawyers," in the latest US Legal 500 rankings. Overall, 36 O’Melveny lawyers were recognized across 17 practices.
      • Asia-Pacific Legal 500 (2008-09)
      • O'Melveny received top-tier rankings in four practice areas, and seven Firm lawyers were named "Leading Individuals," in the latest edition of The Asia Pacific Legal 500. Overall, 16 O’Melveny lawyers were recognized across 17 practices.

      • The 2009 edition of International Financial Law Review 1000 ranked O’Melveny among the world’s leading financial law firms for Banking, Capital Markets, EU Competition, M&A, Private Equity, and Restructuring and Insolvency. Two partners received special recognition as “Leading Lawyers.”

      • The National Law Journal (2008-09)
      • For two years running, The National Law Journal has included O’Melveny on the Appellate Hot List, in recognition of our success handling "some of the most important cases on the high court’s docket."
      • Law360 Litigation Almanac (2009)
      • Law360 Litigation Almanac ranks O’Melveny as the fourth most active securities litigation practice among US firms.
      • ACQ Finance Magazine (2008-09)
      • We were chosen “Competition Law Firm of the Year” by ACQ Finance Magazine for the second consecutive year.
      • Global Arbitration Review 100 (2008)
      • O’Melveny’s arbitration practice ranked 10th among US firms in the Global Arbitration Review 100. The Firm has been listed in the GAR 100 and the GAR 30, an elite subset of the publication’s larger listing, both years that the survey has been published.
      • Legal Business (2008)
      • Our work on the 2007 merger of German-based TUI AG’s tourism division and the British leisure travel company First Choice Holidays PLC earned the “Competition Team of the Year” award from Legal Business, publisher of the Legal 500 directories and European Legal Experts guide.

      • O’Melveny ranked number one as debt issuer’s counsel in The American Lawyer’s 2009 Corporate Scorecard. The Firm completed 48 investment-grade debt issues in 2008—more than any other firm.
      • The Hollywood Reporter (2009)
      • The Hollywood Reporter's “Power Lawyers” list ranks five O’Melveny partners among the 100 most influential outside counsel in entertainment. With five lawyers on the list, O'Melveny has the most "Power Lawyers" of any AmLaw 100 firm.
      • League Tables (2008)
      • O’Melveny is ranked in the top 10 in M&A league tables published by Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, and Mergermarket.
      • Zero2IPO (2007-08)
      • For two years in a row, Zero2IPO has named O’Melveny its “Lead Private Equity Advisor” for the China market.
      • Pacific Business Press, Ltd. (2008)
      • We were chosen as “Firm of the Year” for securities/finance in China in a survey by Pacific Business Press, Ltd.
      • Project Finance International (2007)
      • We received Project Finance International’s “North America Acquisition Deal of The Year” award for advising Orient Overseas (International) Limited in the US$2.35 billion sale of its Terminals Division to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board.

      • The American Lawyer (2008-09)
      • The American Lawyer named our firm to the 2009 “A-List,” its roster of the 20 law firms judged best at balancing a thriving business with their obligations to the profession. This is the second year in a row that O’Melveny made the list.

      • Multicultural Law magazine (2009)
      • Multicultural Law magazine named O'Melveny to its "2009 Top 100 Law Firms For Diversity" list.
      • The Daily Journal (2009)
      • Five O’Melveny lawyers were named to the Daily Journal's 2009 list of top 100 women litigators in California—more than any other law firm.
      • Minority Law Journal (2008)
      • We are ranked 20th among the largest US law firms in the percentage of diverse lawyers, according to the Minority Law Journal’s 2008 “Diversity Scorecard.”

  • Pro Bono
      • Public Counsel (2009)
      • In 2009, the public interest law firm Public Counsel honored a group of O’Melveny lawyers for their outstanding pro bono advocacy, which included an asylum case and a favorable settlement in litigation against a Southern California city for its failure to comply with low-income housing obligations under state redevelopment law.
      • Ford's Theatre Society (2009)
      • In Washington, DC, Ford's Theatre Society recently recognized O'Melveny for its pro bono legal services in support of extensive renovations to the historic building—ADA compliance, acquisition of a neighboring storefront for lobby space, labor issues, contracts—and a related capital campaign.
