The O'Melveny Elementary School

In 1985, when the Los Angeles Unified School District created an "adopt-a-school" program, the Firm took under its wing its namesake, the O’Melveny Elementary School, to encourage the students there to stay in school, to succeed academically, and to continue their education after high school. As part of this special relationship, the Firm sponsors educational field trips by the students to the O'Melveny offices, historic landmarks, and museums, along with culturally enriching school assemblies covering opera and pioneer living.
Over 125 O'Melveny Elementary students also have received Scholastic Encouragement Awards from the Firm since 1990. For this group of motivated and needy youngsters who are designated as O'Melveny Scholars, the monetary awards serve as assistance toward realizing the dream of attending college. To help the students stay on the path to academic success and meet the conditions for receiving the scholarships upon graduation, the Firm created the O’Melveny & Myers Scholar Mentor Program that pairs them with an O’Melveny attorney or staff member who offers guidance and support in connection with the students' scholastic pursuits. O'Melveny Scholars have graduated from such universities as MIT, Brown, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, USC, and UCLA.
