Performance Management Program
We are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse and knowledgeable staff, and thus have established a structured performance management program to ensure that all staff are evaluated on a consistent, thorough basis.
Our process for evaluating staff includes self-reports/evaluations, and solicitation of department managers and/or local office administration. When it comes to evaluating our employees' performance, communication is key. The evaluation process is an opportunity to comprehensively review performance, to discuss professional development opportunities, identify opportunities for career growth and set expectations and goals. The process consists of a 90-day review for all new employees as well as an annual performance review in July in which staff receive a formal written evaluation.
Employee Self-Report
Reviews are a forum to address not only performance success and improvement, but also areas of interest to the employee. As part of the annual review process, all employees have the opportunity to complete a Self-Report which allows them to list their contributions, accomplishments and training needs. Self-Reports are another tool which assist with on-going communication.
Core Competencies
Core competencies are the general knowledge, skills, behaviors and aptitudes that have been identified by the Firm as being the requirements needed to perform successfully in various positions within the firm. They are based on the Firm's values and are integrated with the criteria for performance evaluations. Competencies offer a consistent and strategic approach to defining jobs and roles, developing a clear understanding of the competencies and skill sets needed within each job family, and defining career progression.
Intranet
The O’Melveny Intranet is the Firm’s portal for disseminating information on Firm services, activities, training, links to Firm directories and news. The Intranet is a dynamic and ever-growing window into the workings of the Firm.
