Gregory Thorpe

Greg Thorpe is a partner in O'Melveny's Los Angeles office and Chair of the Project Development and Real Estate Practice. He focuses on real estate development, project finance, leasing and natural resources development. He has represented developers, tenants and lenders in the development and financing of office buildings, retail and entertainment centers, master planned communities and infrastructure projects. Greg is currently representing the developer of a major sports entertainment and housing district in downtown Los Angeles, and is advising Kennecott Land Company in the commercial and residential development of over 90,000 acres in Salt Lake, Utah. Greg also has assisted developers of commercial and industrial projects in creating the leasing and operating structure and documentation for commercial developments.
Greg also represents parties in public-private development projects and projects involving significant governmental involvement. Greg represented the US Department of Energy in the sale of the Elk Hills Oil Field in Kern County, California, the largest privatization ever conducted by the United States Government. Greg also represented the project developers in creating the legal and financial structure for the Alameda Corridor Project, a US$2.5 billion rail infrastructure project in Los Angeles. In addition, Greg has represented governmental agencies in the joint development of commercial properties in a number of locations, including Los Angeles, San Diego and Oakland.
Greg has extensive experience in resolving issues raised by environmental contamination problems encountered in land development, and has spoken about environmental issues in real estate developments to groups across the country.
