Larry Yee is Of Counsel in O'Melveny's China practice where he was a partner for 10 years, dividing his time between our Shanghai and Hong Kong offices. He has broad experience in international investment and financing matters, including foreign direct investment and market entry strategies for multinationals in China, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, infrastructure projects, project financings, capital markets transactions, and restructurings. Larry has lived in Asia for more than 30 years and is qualified to practice law in New York, Hong Kong, and England and Wales. Prior to joining O'Melveny, he was a partner at another major international law firm in Hong Kong for more than a decade.

During his 33 years of legal practice, Larry has represented clients in a wide range of transactions, including representing the bank syndicate in the US$475 million project financing of the Occidental Petroleum Ping Shuo coal mine project in Shanxi Province; representing the project company in a US$80 million project financing to build a fiber manufacturing facility in China; representing developers, equity investors and lenders in infrastructure projects in China, including port facilities, power plants, oil refineries, toll roads, tunnels and bridges; a strategic alliance between a foreign insurance company and a Chinese insurance company, including the purchase by the foreign insurance company of shares of the Chinese insurance company; a series of securitizations of RMB receivables; representing vessel owners in connection with numerous shipbuilding contracts and financings of vessels constructed in Asia; the acquisition by Masco of furniture manufacturing companies throughout Asia; the global initial public offering and dual listing of China Southern Airlines in Hong Kong and New York, which raised HK$5.6 billion (US$720 million); and the corporate reorganization of the Tung Shipping Group in Hong Kong, involving the restructuring of debts of US$2.7 billion. His experience also includes establishing investment funds and commercial paper programs, ship financings, and international tax planning.

Prior to entering law school, Larry taught at Tunghai University in Taiwan and produced and directed documentary films in New York City.
