Madhu Pocha

Madhu Pocha is an associate in O’Melveny’s Century City office and a member of the Business Trial and Litigation Department. He has worked with a broad range of clients, including companies and individuals in the fields of media, technology, and entertainment. He has taken and defended depositions, drafted briefs, argued motions, interviewed and examined witnesses, and managed complex electronic discovery.

Prior to joining O’Melveny, Madhu worked as a consultant on projects for the U.S. Department of Defense concerning the Internet, new media, and social networking.

Illustrative Professional Experience

  • Representing Time Inc. and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist for Sports Illustrated in defense of defamation claims. 
  • Representing Jason West and Vince Zampella, the creators of the multibillion dollar Call of Duty and Modern Warfare video game franchises, in dispute over nonpayment of nine-figure bonuses and unauthorized development of games. 
  • Representing Canadian company in litigation over nine-figure contract at both the trial and appellate level in California. 
  • Representing Australian company in its defense against claims brought under the Alien Tort Statute by citizens of Papua New Guinea. 
  • Represented Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the world’s second largest computer chip maker, in a global antitrust lawsuit against Intel that resulted in a US $1.25 billion settlement for the client. 
  • Represented a journalist and news organization in a dispute over confidentiality of sources under California and federal law. 
  • Represented the Los Angeles chapter of a national non-profit organization in arbitration proceedings. 
  • Prosecuted a DUI case for the City of Redondo Beach that resulted in a guilty verdict on all counts. 
  • Contributed to the National War Powers Commission Report under the supervision of former Secretary of State Warren Christopher. The report, which was released in July 2008, proposed a statute to replace the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
