O'Melveny Brussels Receives "Competition Law Firm of the Year" Award from ACQ Finance Magazine for 2nd Consecutive Year
O'Melveny's Brussels office has been recognized as "Competition Law Firm of the Year" by ACQ Finance Magazine for the second consecutive year in the publication's Law Awards for 2009.
O'Melveny won the award on the basis of a vote by the magazine's in-house panel, as well as by O'Melveny's peer firms, on the best deals reported in the magazine and which firms they think excelled in 2009.
"It is very gratifying to receive this award in recognition of our hard work to build a pre-eminent competition practice in Brussels," said Brussels managing partner and European Antitrust and Competition practice chair Riccardo Celli. "We had another tremendously successful year achieving significant victories for our clients, including representing Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in its global antitrust battle with Intel, where the European Commission fined Intel a record €1.06 billion (US$1.44 billion) for its anti-competitive practices.
ACQ Finance Magazine provides coverage on M&A deals and reports on the business climate across the UK, Europe, and the world. According to the magazine, the awards, which are presented across 35 geographical regions, seek to "recognize and salute the organizations & advisers that have performed to exceptional levels during the most difficult period that the global economy has experienced for decades."
O'Melveny's Brussels office was also recognized as "Competition Law Firm of the Year" by ACQ Finance Magazine in 2008 in the publication's inaugural Law Awards. In addition, in February 2008, O'Melveny Brussels accepted the title of "Competition Team of the Year" at the 2008 Legal Business Awards. These recognitions are a testament to O'Melveny's ongoing achievements for its clients in the field of competition law.
