O’Melveny’s Nicksin Quoted in Energy Risk Article on EU Emissions Trading Scheme
O’Melveny & Myers LLP project development and real estate counsel Bob Nicksin was quoted in the August 2, 2012, Energy Risk article “Airlines face regulatory uncertainty in US-EU emissions standoff,” commenting on the US Senate Commerce Committee's recent passage of a bill that would complicate the European Union’s attempts to include non-EU airlines into its Emissions Trading Scheme.
In the article, Nicksin opined, “I don't believe we'll know how exactly this is going to unfold until we get closer to April 30, 2013, when airlines will be required to true up their allocations and emission reduction credits. At that point the pressure will shift to the EU to make some allowances so that a more global approach can be considered and adopted.”
