Law360: Campaigns To Eliminate Justice Fees Pick Up Steam

O’Melveny & Myers LLP and nine other law firms collaborated with the National Center for Access to Justice to create the Justice Index, which ranks 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico on five aspects of access to justice: access to an attorney, self-representation, language access, disability access, and fines and fees. The data-intensive ranking system, which was created in 2014 and also makes policy recommendations, is being used by organizations advocating for the elimination of fees in the criminal justice system.
