Law360: Google Settles Play Store Suit With App Developers

Google has announced a settlement with a party of small app developers—those with US$2 million in annual sales or less—over antitrust claims accusing the tech giant of monopolizing the app distribution market on its Play Store and in-app purchases. “Developer plaintiffs and Google estimate that the proposed settlement class represents more than 99 percent of all US developers selling paid apps or in-app content through the Google Play store,” the brief stated. Settlement details were not disclosed. Google is represented by Daniel M. Petrocelli, Ian Simmons, Benjamin G. Bradshaw, and Stephen J. McIntyre of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
