Law360: NSO’s Immunity Claim In Meta Hacking Suit Dies At High Court

The US Supreme Court denied NSO Group Technologies Ltd.’s petition for certiorari seeking immunity from hacking claims. The Ninth Circuit ruled in 2021 that NSO must face claims brought by WhatsApp accusing NSO of using malware to spy on 1,400 of its users. “NSO’s spyware has enabled cyberattacks targeting human rights activists, journalists, and government officials,” said Carl Woog, a spokesperson for WhatsApp. “We firmly believe that their operations violate US law and they must be held to account for their unlawful operations.” WhatsApp and Meta are represented by Michael R.
