Law360: Warner Bros. ‘Matrix’ Release Row Sent To Arbitration

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Cunningham issued decisions sending Village Roadshow's breach of contract lawsuit against Warner Bros. to arbitration and denying its motion for a preliminary injunction. Village claimed that Warner Bros. violated distribution deals after releasing “The Matrix Resurrections” simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters. In response to Village’s preliminary injunction withdrawal request, Warner Bros.’ counsel Matt Kline said that his clients spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to prepare their briefs, and now that Holscher “wants to hide these rulings from the public because they are so adverse to him, [it] is improper and should be declined.” Kline and Dan Petrocelli of O’Melveny & Myers LLP represent Warner Bros.
