As Russia began its invasion into Ukraine, O’Melveny counsel John Dermody appeared on LiveNow from FOX—the network’s 24-hour national streaming news platform—and offered his perspective on the threat of Russian cyberattacks. “With cyber, where sovereignty and geography aren’t as important in some ways as traditional military activity, you could see actions and effects happening well across the world and outside of Ukraine,” Dermody said. “You may see loosening of the reigns on cyber threat actors, criminal cyber threat actors, ransomware purveyors…and that creates a real threat for private sector companies… No one will be able to sit on the sidelines with this.”
