March 5, 2021

Newsday’s report on the race for the position of US attorney for New York’s Eastern District (the EDNY) named O’Melveny partner Nicole Argentieri among the contenders for the post. Argentieri worked in the EDNY for almost ten years, including two years as the Chief of the Public Integrity Section.

The publication noted that the appointee leading the EDNY will be charged with overseeing the investigation into Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s reporting of nursing home deaths in New York to federal government during the COVID-19 pandemic. The EDNY is one of the largest federal prosecutorial offices in the US, and includes jurisdiction over Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, and the Long Island suburban counties of Nassau and Suffolk.
