Los Angeles Business Journal Names Chopra, Richards, Seto Among Los Angeles’ Most Influential Minority Lawyers
September 12, 2016FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES — September 12, 2016 — O’Melveny partners Apalla Chopra, Eric Richards, and Cassandra Seto were named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of the “Most Influential Minority Lawyers in Los Angeles,” which was published September 12, 2016.
Chopra, who chairs the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice and is a member the firm’s Executive and Policy committees, was recognized for her “broad experience” representing clients in cases regarding a range of employee allegations, as well as in traditional labor matters. LABJ also identified Chopra as being “among a handful of lawyers that colleges and universities turn to for their most complex and high profile legal challenges” and noted that “she’s become the national go-to lawyer for Title IX investigations and follow-on litigation over how universities handle sexual assault allegations, an issue spreading throughout colleges throughout the country.”
LABJ called Richards a “top corporate and project finance attorney” who is “redefining the way major infrastructure projects are developed and financed.” Noting his international expertise in transportation infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and the privatization of government-owned assets, the publication observed that Richards “has also been instrumental in bringing the public-private partnership (PPP) model—which has been successful in funding developments abroad—to sophisticated enterprise and social infrastructure projects in the US.”
Citing her “vast experience in copyright and intellectual property issues, complex contract disputes, and business torts,” LABJ noted that Seto has handled some of the firm’s “most high-profile cases and secured key victories for her media and entertainment clients.” The publication highlighted her work for Warner Bros. and DC Comics in their battle for the rights to Superman; Sirius XM in a “series of landmark lawsuits;” and Disney.
