O’Melveny Repeats Trifecta of #1 Rankings in Vault’s 2021 Law Firm Survey

For Second Straight Year, Firm Is Named “Best Law Firm to Work For,” “Best Law Firm for Diversity,” and “Best Summer Associate Program”—and Earns #1 in 12 Sub-Categories

NEW YORK—September 15, 2020—O’Melveny achieved unprecedented recognition today when it again claimed the top spot on three of the Vault Law Firm Associate Survey’s most important lists—“Best Law Firms to Work For,” “Best Law Firms for Diversity,” and “Best Summer Associate Programs.”

Last year, O’Melveny became the first law firm to rank #1 in all three categories. This is now the third consecutive year that O’Melveny has earned top honors in two of those key categories: “Best Law Firm to Work For” and “Best Summer Associate Program.”

In addition to sweeping Vault’s 2021 “Quality of Life” categories, the firm earned #1 rankings in a dozen sub-categories, including the survey’s new Wellness ranking. O’Melveny also took first place for Firm Culture, Satisfaction, Associate/Partner Relations, Quality of Work, Career Outlook, and Informal Training, Mentoring, and Sponsorship.

This is the second straight year that O’Melveny ranked first for “Best Law Firm for Diversity.” The firm’s efforts to promote diversity across the board are reflected in its #1 placement in all four of Vault’s diversity sub-categories: Diversity for Individuals with Disabilities, Diversity for LGBTQ+ Individuals, Diversity for Women, and Racial & Ethnic Diversity.

The 2021 Vault rankings represent the latest recognition of O’Melveny’s distinctive firm culture. Last month, The American Lawyer ranked O’Melveny #1 in its 2020 Midlevel Associates Survey of more than 70 law firms nationwide. Earlier this summer, O’Melveny was ranked #3 on The American Lawyer’s prestigious “A-List,” which takes a holistic view of law firms.

More than 20,000 associates from over 180 law firms participated in Vault’s 2021 Law Firm Associate Survey. The survey asked associates to rate their own firms—on a scale of 1 to 10—in a variety of areas. Junior associates who participated in their firms’ summer programs were also invited to rate their experiences as summer associates.
