Since the California Gold Rush, the Bay Area has been synonymous with America’s entrepreneurial spirit. From the pioneers of the 19th Century to the visionaries of today, the region’s leaders and companies have ensured its place as one of the world’s top economic centers. In that spirit, O’Melveny’s San Francisco office represents dynamic companies from around the world that continue to break uncharted ground.
From complex litigation, such as intellectual property work for IDT, to complicated financial transactions, such as the acquisition of one of China’s largest medical device companies, companies call on O’Melveny’s San Francisco team for solutions that overcome obstacles to their success. Our breadth of practice allows our lawyers to gather insight across traditional practice boundaries, with transactional lawyers offering advice in business disputes and litigators spotting risks in proposed transactions. The office thrives on its ability to provide clients with a true interdisciplinary approach to their business challenges.
The San Francisco office recognizes that part of its strength is its diversity. We are a signatory to the San Francisco Bar Association’s Goals and Timetables and Recommendations for Minority Hiring and Advancement
and No Glass Ceiling Initiative
. In addition, our office has four very active Affinity Groups: a Women's Affinity Group, an LGBT Affinity Group, a Parenting Affinity Group, and a Racial & Ethnic Diversity Affinity Group, all of which provide a forum where people can unite and discuss similar issues. The office also provides a college scholarship every year to a student attending San Francisco’s Balboa High School.
Our lawyers participate in an aggressive pro bono initiative. Members of our office are active in many legal organizations that work to protect civil rights, including Lambda Legal, BALiF, the Asian Law Caucus, the San Francisco Bar Association and the Legal Aid Society.
- Our green office space was awarded Gold certification under the US Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. The LEED Green Building rating system is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. With this distinction, O’Melveny has become the first law firm to receive Gold certification—the next-to-highest rating possible in the LEED scale—for renovated space in an existing building. Using sustainable techniques and materials for office renovations and build-outs is a goal of our firmwide Green Office Initiative.
