Counsel


Yu Fu is a counsel in O'Melveny's Hong Kong office and a member of the Transactions Department. Before joining O'Melveny, he worked for a major international law firm for more than five years.

He has more than ten years experience working on China-related advisory and transactional matters across a broad range of industries, with emphasis on reorganization of companies, mergers and acquisitions, and banking and finance. He also focuses his practice on the resolution of Chinese foreign business disputes and has represented clients in arbitrations before various arbitral institutions, including the HKIAC, SAIC and CIETAC, as well as in litigations before courts at various levels in China involving potential liabilities for adverse reaction of pharmaceutical products and administrative procedures challenging penalty decisions made by governments.

  • A major PRC company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and an investment bank on the injection of US$500 million assets into a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange

  • Two major multinational petrochemical companies on their proposed investment in an integrated refinery and petrochemical project with a total investment amount of US$3.6 billion in China 
  • An investment bank on establishing a joint venture with an asset management company to acquire and dispose of non-performing loans 
  • An investment bank on acquisition of certain shares in a Chinese company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange 
  • An international bank on a bridge loan in an amount of US$76 million to several PRC real estate companies

  • A wholly foreign-owned power project company on disputes under a power purchase agreement in respect of a BOT power project in China 
  • A major US company in an arbitration case at Hong Kong International Arbitration Center in respect of a contractual dispute in the sum of US$50 million against a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange 
  • A major Japanese tobacco company on an administrative lawsuit in China filed by its joint venture against the local customs’ penalty decision 
  • A major Austrian company on disputes in respect of customs issues 
  • A major US oil company on disputes in respect of customs issues 
  • A major US tire manufacturer in an arbitration case at CIETAC in respect of product liability issues and a lawsuit in a US court
