Ford Motor Company

Our team has served as national class action counsel for Ford Motor Company for many years. In that capacity, we have successfully defended Ford against dozens of putative class actions. We represented Ford in the most intense litigation, political, and media assault in its 100-year history, the Bridgestone/Firestone controversy. This included more than 200 class action lawsuits, investigations by both houses of Congress and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as well as daily coverage in the media. We have also defeated attempts to certify nationwide classes in, among other cases, Walsh v. Ford Motor Company, In re Ford Motor Co. Bronco II Products Liability Litigation, and In re Ford Motor Co. Vehicle Paint Litigation. And in many instances, we have defeated putative class actions at the pleading or summary judgment stage. Most recently, O’Melveny persuaded the Ohio Court of Appeals, Eighth District to vacate a US$2 billion jury verdict against Ford—the largest judgment in the history of Ohio—and remanded the case for a new trial.
