O’Melveny Class Notes The 2022 Class Notes highlight the important life events of our O’Melveny community that took place between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. NIDHI GEEVARGHESE (CLASS OF 2013) and her husband, Shawn Mathew, welcomed son Caleb Joshua Mathew in June. KRISTIN MACDONNELL (CLASS OF 2015) and her husband, Kyle, welcomed daughter River Layne Smith in October. EMMY BERNING WEISNER (CLASS OF 2003) and her husband, Aron Weisner, have two children (ages 7 and 10) and live in the Chicago area, where their affordable housing development business is based, and where Emmy also has an executive coaching practice. DANIELLE FEUER (CLASS OF 2018) and her husband, Matthew Haimowitz, were married in November.

Booklife calls it “[a]n ambitious globe-crossing narrative of interconnected lives and loves . . . Bryan dramatizes the ways that cultural capital can help build lifelong connections that teach us how we deal with ourselves and those outside our experience.” New York Times best-selling author, Imbolo Mbue, said of ABROAD: “[S]upremely readable, ABROAD is a celebration of travel and all ways it can lead us to rediscover ourselves and relearn the true meaning of love.” Bryan hopes O’Melveny alumni and friends enjoy reading it and, as always, he looks forward to their comments. 1978 CATHY PEPE (CLASS OF 1978) released her first and second novels in the Grandma Gang Mysteries children’s book series. Cathy’s first novel, Donny and Mary Grace’s California Adventures, was the #1 bestseller in December on the Online Book Club app in the Children’s Books category and has been selected by the Online Book Club for their May 2023 book of the month. Cathy’s first novel, as well as her second novel, Donny and Mary Grace and the Dognappers, are available for purchase at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and other book stores. 1966 DON BLISS (CLASS OF 1966) teaches adult education courses at Johns Hopkins University and American University in Washington, DC. Don’s latest book on our fragile democracy, Mark Twain’s Ten Lessons for a Healthy Democracy, is available exclusively at www.politics-prose.com. 1968 PHILIP MAUSE (CLASS OF 1968) is involved in film production. His first film, Framed in Miami, was released in Italy on Discovery+ and led the charts for several weeks. Philip is wrapping up production on his second film — Railroaded in Reading — and it should be out this summer. 1971 THE HONORABLE MARTIN GLENN (CLASS OF 1971) was named Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York. 1974 ROBERT SIEGEL (CLASS OF 1974) was named among the Daily Journal’s 2022 “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers.” Classes

2 O’Melveny & Myers LLP I omm.com 1981 MARGARET MCFARLAND (CLASS OF 1981) retired from Menlo College in Atherton, California, where she established a Real Estate Center and an undergraduate major in Real Estate over the last four years. She continues to provide student advising and periodic lectures at the University of Maryland College Park Colvin Institute, where she is an emeritus professor. SETH ARONSON (CLASS OF 1981) retired from O’Melveny after 35 years with the firm. He has joined Phillips ADR as a mediator, arbitrator, and independent panelist. A top securities litigator and firm leader with the wit and timing of a stand-up comedian, Seth has been an integral part of O’Melveny since he joined the firm in 1988. Seth was the inaugural Managing Partner of our Los Angeles office, holding that role from 2000 to 2008, and, as leader of our Securities Litigation practice from 2002 to 2011, he helped create and grow that group. The practice today has more than a dozen partners in five offices, and its expansion and success are testaments to his skillful leadership and development of younger lawyers. Aptly described in his Chambers profile as “phenomenal,” Seth has cultivated a deep and vast knowledge of securities litigation. Corporations and their directors, officers, and professionals have relied on him to mount forceful defenses in securities class actions, shareholder derivative actions, SEC enforcement proceedings, and mergers and acquisitions litigation. His keen ability to assess the risks and benefits of various possible outcomes has helped him build a roster of loyal clients, including Skechers, Lockheed Martin, PowerWave, and Montage Technology Group. Seth shared his decades of expertise by co-authoring the definitive treatise Shareholder Derivative Actions: From Cradle to Grave. Seth has long embodied O’Melveny’s commitment to community service and pro bono work. In 2021, for providing legal services to those living in poverty, he was honored by the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles with its Maynard Toll Award for Distinguished Public Service—a distinction named after the esteemed former O’Melveny Chair and pioneering civic leader. Since 2001, Seth has served on the board of his alma mater Loyola Law School, and he’s been president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers 1979 SCOTT RAFFERTY (CLASS OF 1979) and his wife, Linda, live in Walnut Creek, California. Their daughter, Annie, is a junior at Smith College, and their daughter, Melina, started at Tulane University in the fall. Since 2018, Scott has worked with Latino and Asian communities to create minority districts under the California and federal Voting Rights Acts and the state’s new anti-gerrymandering law. Dozens of jurisdictions settled, but five are now on appeal. During the pandemic, Scott climbed Half Dome and Mt. Whitney. 1980 LINDSAY CONNER (CLASS OF 1980) completed his first full calendar year at O’Melveny and is so happy to be at the firm. “It has been a terrific year, with wonderful colleagues at this fantastic firm!” DAVID LASH (CLASS OF 1980) was named the 2022 “Jim Robie Professionalism and Civility Award Recipient” by the Los Angeles County Bar Association. LONGO (CLASS OF 1996) joined Ropes & Gray LLP, in March 2022, as the first litigation Partner in the firm’s new Los Angeles office, where she practices SEC/ white collar enforcement and securities class action defense. Amy served as the Regional Trial Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Los Angeles Regional Office, serving close to nine years with the agency. She lives in Pacific Palisades with her husband, Steve Pesce, and their two sons, Leo and Renzi Pesce, ages 14 and 12. 1994 GLENN BUTTERTON (CLASS OF 1994) has returned to Northern Virginia and is now an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center. He is thrilled to be back in Washington, DC after spending four years away, first in Shenzhen, China (where he was Cornelius Vander Starr Senior Lecturer at Peking University), and then in Miami, Florida (where he was a Lecturer in Law at the University of Miami). His sons now work in Boston, where his oldest, Derek, is at the Boston Museum of Science, and his youngest, Adrian, is at the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General. JEFFREY E. GORDON (CLASS OF 1994) joined O’Melveny’s newly formed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. HEATHER MEEKER (CLASS OF 1994) retired as an O’Melveny Partner. Heather is internationally renowned for her expertise in technology licensing, open source software, and intellectual property law. In fact, clients often keep a copy of Heather’s book, Open Source for Business, by their sides. Heather counsels clients from startups to global enterprises on software licensing and other complex and essential issues. Heather has helped propel several of our forward-looking practice areas to new heights—including our Technology, Emerging Technologies, and Automated & Connected Vehicles Industry Groups, where clients rely upon Heather’s open source, technology licensing, and supply-chain expertise. MICHELLE EARLEY (CLASS OF 1997) joined O’Melveny as Partner in the Austin Office. DAVID LEVISS (CLASS OF 1997) took on a new role as Associate General Counsel of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. David will report directly to the SEC’s General Counsel and its Chair, and he will advise the SEC on internal investigations and oversight inquiries. This is a return to the federal government for David, who served as a DOJ trial attorney early in his career and then as Chief Oversight Counsel for the US House Energy and Commerce Committee. In the latter role, he was responsible for all oversight investigations of federal agencies and the private sector within the scope of the Committee’s broad jurisdiction. As a member of O’Melveny’s Health Care and White Collar Groups since 2011, David has continued to deepen that experience by representing clients in high-profile investigations, including congressional inquiries. SIDDHARTH RAJA (CLASS OF 1997) recently merged his corporate M&A team and practice with the leading PE/VC Indian Law Firm, VERTICES PARTNERS (www.verticespartners.com), becoming that Firm’s Senior Partner, based in its Bangalore office, in Southern India. KATHY STROBOS (CLASS OF 1996) published two romantic comedy books in 2022. Caper Crush and A Scavenger Hunt for Hearts are set in New York City with an artist protagonist. Caper Crush was recently named as a quarterfinalist in the Screencraft Cinematic Book Competition. ANDREW B. YOUNG (CLASS OF 1996) joined O’Melveny as Partner in the Washington, DC office. 1997 SEAN BURTON (CLASS OF 1997), CEO of Cityview, was appointed by President Biden to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors and was confirmed by the US Senate in October. Previously, Sean served for eight years as President of the Board of Airport Commissioners in Los Angeles, which oversees the LAX and Van Nuys airports. JOHN CARDENAS (CLASS OF 1997) was promoted to the rank of Minister Counselor in the US Senior Foreign Service. Rogers College of Law with its 2022 Distinguished Public Service Scholar Award for her research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the legal profession and administration of justice as well as her body of scholarship examining how longstanding practices and values in legal education affect access to justice, bias in the profession, and the legal profession as a whole. Susie has directed the College’s top-ranked legal writing program since 2017, and has been a professor and administrator since 2010. DAWN SESTITO (CLASS OF 2000) joined O’Melveny’s newly formed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. REUBEN WILSON (CLASS OF 2000) was named Deputy Mayor for Public Safety for the City of Los Angeles in February 2022. 2001 ALLEN BURTON (CLASS OF 2001) joined Tanc Schiavoni as Co-Chair of our Insurance practice. LEE FINK (CLASS OF 2001) is the Chair of the Business Litigation Department at Brower Law Group, APC, an Orange County boutique litigation firm. In June, Lee secured a $1 million judgment in favor of his client after a COVID-era jury trial, and prevailed in several political law cases, including securing a judgment removing three Mission Viejo City Councilmembers from office for unlawfully extending their terms. TREVOR LAIN (CLASS OF 2003) is pleased to share that in 2022, the RiskTech startup he founded (LexAlign PBC, lexalign.com) to address a vulnerability in banking, progressed from the pilot stage to scale, by finalizing a reseller agreement with FIS (www.fisglobal.com), one of the largest core processing platforms, and launching a mass enablement sales campaign across the FIS customer base. LexAlign PBC also entered into a POC with a leading international law firm to automate expertise for the wealth management sector. Trevor is expecting a banner year in 2023.
