Daily Journal: 2018 M&A Deals Broke US$4 Trillion Mark, Beating Last Year

January 08, 2019

In this list of the top 10 M&A deals in 2018 involving California lawyers, the Daily Journal ranked O’Melveny’s work for Microsemi in its acquisition by Microchip Technology at number two.

O’Melveny lawyers guided Microsemi Corp., a leading provider of semiconductor solutions, through the transaction. Partners Warren Lazarow and Mark Easton led the O’Melveny team.

“What made this deal unique to me was the length of time I'd worked with the company leading up to the transaction and the number of times we were the buyer and now we were the seller,” said Lazarow. “I had worked with Microsemi for more than a decade and about 30 M&A transactions prior, so the sale felt like the culmination of a long journey with a client I was very much personally invested in.”

The team also included Silicon Valley partners Robert Fisher and Eric Amdursky. Los Angeles partners Thomas Baxter and Matthew Close advised on the deal, as well as counsel Sarah Hoffner with associates Adam Ackerman and Lauren Jaeger. San Francisco senior counsel Warren Fox and counsel Diana Rogosa also advised on the deal along with Newport Beach partner Jeff Walbridge and associate Rebecca Cottrell.
