ABA Journal Cites O’Melveny Amicus Brief in Proposition 8 Ruling

August 27, 2013 The September 2013 edition of ABA Journal includes an article focused on the growing number of amicus brief submissions in US Supreme Court cases.  The report cites the influence of an amicus curiae brief that O’Melveny & Myers filed on behalf of partner Walter Dellinger on the 5-4 ruling that supporters of California’s Proposition 8 lacked standing to press their case on appeal.  “It was certainly rewarding to know the brief was being read on the court,” Dellinger said in the article.  “This brief was entirely about the substance of the standing argument and not about one or more organizations weighing in on the merits.”

Dellinger is a member of O’Melveny’s Appellate Practice and resides in the Firm’s Washington, DC office.
