American Bar Association: ABA to Honor Three Individuals, Two Law Entities for Their Pro Bono Efforts

May 20, 2020

The American Bar Association will honor O’Melveny partner Leah Godesky at the 2020 Pro Bono Publico Awards, this article reported. The awards will go to three individual lawyers, a law firm, and a corporate law department demonstrating outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services for the poor and disadvantaged at the upcoming ABA Annual Meeting, which will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, American Bar Association reported. Godesky leads the firm’s pro bono efforts for women’s reproductive rights and has won landmark victories against several states seeking to severely restrict access to abortion. She serves as co-counsel with the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project, Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights. In addition, Godesky co-chairs O’Melveny’s New York Women’s Employee Network, an office-wide committee focused on creating opportunities for women to motivate one another and advance their careers, this article noted.
