Almeling Testifies Before US House Judiciary Committee on Trade Secret Law
April 17, 2018
David Almeling was invited by Representative Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives, to testify before the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet at a hearing titled, “Safeguarding Trade Secrets in the United States.” Almeling’s testimony took place on April 17, 2018. His written statement is available here, and his oral testimony and response to questions from various representatives are available on video here.
Almeling testified about the state of trade secret law. He specifically focused on how litigation is proceeding under the Defend Trade Secrets Act, which was enacted in May 2016 and established a federal right of civil action for trade secret theft.
Almeling is one of the country’s leading attorneys in trade secret law. The Legal 500 describes him as one of the “key figures in the trade secrets space,” and IAM Patent 1000 calls him a “trade secret authority.”
