February 22, 2016

The Asian Lawyer’s February 22, 2016, article, “Weakened Chinese Economy to Drive Investments Into the US, Report Finds,” highlights O’Melveny’s Foreign Direct Investment survey, summarizing the findings of the investor appetites of the mainly Chinese executives, with 80 percent of respondents expecting greater investment in the US in 2016. Nearly one-third of the respondents ranked the U.S. as one of the top three target markets for their investments this year, with healthcare, technology and professional services as the most desired markets. The article quotes Hong Kong partner Nima Amini agreeing with the findings, saying, “The US is a prime target for Chinese companies going out and buying assets, particularly in technology and health care.”
