Bloomberg Law: O’Melveny Expands in Texas Again With New Dallas Office

June 29, 2021

O’Melveny’s client relationships with large companies based in the Lone Star State—including Dallas-headquartered AT&T Inc. and Time Warner, Fort Worth-based American Airlines Group Inc., and Irving-based Exxon Mobil Corp—prompted the law firm’s Texas expansion, Bloomberg Law reported in an article introducing the firm’s newest partners.

“Right now there’s probably no more popular venue in the country for large, complex cases than Texas,” said Lou Strubeck Jr., who joins the firm’s restructuring practice with partner Greg Wilkes. Partner Scott Drake will join O’Melveny’s bankruptcy litigation practice and Doug Wabner will join its product liability and mass torts practice.

The Bloomberg Law article highlighted Strubeck’s wealth of experience working with major banks and institutional lenders, distressed and private equity funds, and corporate debtors in large, complex restructurings. His clients have included CHC Helicopters, Adeptus Health, Samson Energy, Sabine Oil and Gas, Quicksilver, Overseas Shipholding Group, and General Motors.

O’Melveny launched the new office to deepen existing client relationships, Bloomberg Law noted, adding that O’Melveny chair Brad Butwin views the new team’s extensive experience in restructuring, IP, litigation, infrastructure, life sciences, and product liability as highly complementary to existing firm strengths in those areas.
