CNN’s “State of the Union:” At Least Nine Dead, 27 Injured in Dayton Mass Shooting

Partner Lisa Monaco discussed recent gun violence on CNN’s “State of the Union” program on August 4, 2019.

“In years past, we had a whole government approach to international terrorism,” Monaco said. “I think we need to apply the same type of unity of focus to domestic terrorism, and we should make no mistake, that's what the events in El Paso and these other shootings have been. As to [the] question about demographics, I think it’s early to say. We don’t know specifically the motivation of this attack or this terrorist. There will be lots more to come in that vein.”

Monaco added: “I also want to acknowledge the incredible work, and the speedy work, that it sounds like first responders and law enforcement did.”
