Daily Journal: Backers of ‘Aid in Dying’ Law Seek to Intervene Against Challenge

O’Melveny partner John Kappos moved to defend California’s “aid in dying” law in court on behalf of the Compassion & Choices Action Network, two doctors, and Andrew Flack. Kappos said that Flack, a 33-year-old with terminal cancer, wishes to preserve his right to fill an “unfilled prescription” for a lethal drug dose. The state is “more concerned about preserving their right to regulate the statewide practice of medicine,” Kappos said.
