O’Melveny partner Tom Donilon co-authored with former US ambassador-at-large for global women’s issues Cathy Russell the article “Lessons from the Obama Administration: Why Gender Equality Should Continue to Be Part of US Foreign Policy.” The piece, published January 4, 2017, in Medium, discusses the authors’ view that the Obama Administration elevated women’s issues to the top of the US foreign policy agenda.

The authors conclude that, “the United States is committed to the inclusion and empowerment of women and girls. The success of our broader efforts to forge a peaceful, prosperous, and secure future for our citizens and those around the world depends on our fidelity to that commitment.”

Vice Chair of the firm, Washington, DC-based Donilon draws on his distinguished career in government and the private sector to counsel senior business executives, entrepreneurs, and company boards as they develop strategies to address their highest-level business, legal, and policy issues in the US and abroad. He served in the administration of President Obama for more than four years, most recently as national security advisor.
