Donilon Discusses Trump Transition on “Face the Nation”

December 18, 2016

O’Melveny partner and former national security advisor Tom Donilon was interviewed on the December 18, 2016 episode of CBS’s “Face the Nation.” Donilon and his fellow guests discussed what Russian hacking reveals about Russian President Vladimir Putin, analyzed President Barack Obama’s views on the Syrian war, and considered other issues of foreign policy and national security as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office.

“I think this is…part of a broader effort by Vladimir Putin since he came back into office in the spring of 2012 to undermine Western institutions and Western confidence and to split allies,” Donilon said of Russian interference in the election. “So it’s a broader strategic question that needs to be addressed here and that includes shoring up some of these western institutions.”

Vice Chair of the Firm, Washington, DC-based Donilon draws on his distinguished career in government and the private sector to counsel senior business executives, entrepreneurs, and company boards as they develop strategies to address their highest-level business, legal, and policy issues in the United States and abroad. He served in the administration of President Obama for more than four years, most recently as national security advisor.
