Delaware County Daily Times: Education Funding- William Penn Families Finally get Day in Court

O’Melveny & Myers is serving as pro bono counsel to six families in a lawsuit challenging the Pennsylvania state system of public education funding. The suit was initially dismissed, but in 2017 the Pennsylvania Supreme Court reversed the decision, allowing petitioners to proceed. Both parties must produce extensive fact discovery and expert reports by October 2019.

“We are gratified by the Supreme Court’s decision and the opportunity to take this case to trial, and we hope it will be a turning point for Pennsylvania’s public education system,” said counsel Brad Elias who serves as pro bono counsel for the petitioners. “Our goal is to ensure that all children in Pennsylvania have equal access to a thorough and efficient education, and this decision brings us one step closer to achieving that.”
