Forbes Interviews O’Melveny’s Olson on Chinese Investment in the US

April 23, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers partner Steve Olson was recently interviewed by Forbes regarding Chinese investment in the United States.  In the interview, which was published on April 23, 2014, Olson advocates for taking a “holistic approach” to foreign direct investment, which requires companies to “[think] about all of the various audiences and constituencies that may be impacted by a transaction” rather than simply “obtaining a price for a company and dealing with the seller.”  The most effective way to take a holistic approach, he describes, is to hire an experienced advisor who is knows how to access and communicate with the government agencies, consumer groups, and business organizations that will be impacted by the deal.

Olson previously served as Executive Director of SelectUSA, a government agency created by President Obama to facilitate inbound investments into the US.  He is a member of O’Melveny’s White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice and Business Trial and Litigation Practice and resides in the Firm’s Washington, DC office.
