“Advocates filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on Thursday seeking better conditions or outright release for the children and teenagers locked up in Louisiana’s juvenile prisons, which have experienced a serious coronavirus outbreak,” the article said. “The suit was filed against Gov. John Bel Edwards, state Department of Public Safety & Corrections Acting Deputy Secretary Dusty Bickham and other officials in Baton Rouge U.S. District Court by the non-profit Promise of Justice Initiative, the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia and the national firm O’Melveny & Myers.”
