The oil and gas industry faces mounting challenges with multiple bills under consideration in the House and Senate threatening to impact Russian energy production. Though the US sanctioned Russia in 2014 and 2017, the energy industry has been largely spared. Oil and gas executives now worry that their companies could be barred from operating in Russia or with Russian companies around the world. O’Melveny partner Theodore Kassinger commented, “There’s a lot of U.S. investment in Russia, too. Does a Ford plant in Russia get seized by the Russian government as retaliation?
