CNN.com: Iran Could Benefit from Terrorist Proxies in a War with US

Tensions between the US and Iran continue to escalate, with military confrontation between the two nations becoming a possibility. US national security officials are focused on the threat posed by individual groups that are allied with Iran.

“We know that Iran has used proxies, to include Hezbollah, around the world for its malign activity,” said Lisa Monaco. Monaco is a former homeland security adviser to Barack Obama. She is now co-chair of O’Melveny & Myers’ Data Security and Privacy Group.

“As tensions escalate, it is important that there be a coordinated approach across the counterterrorism community, so that the FBI and others with responsibility for security here at home are aware of US moves and potential responses to those moves.”
