Jacob Discusses “Legal Brain Drain” at Labor Department in Bloomberg Big Law Business

May 16, 2018

O’Melveny partner Greg Jacob, a former US Department of Labor Solicitor, was quoted in an article in the May 14, 2018, issue of Bloomberg Big Law Business. The article, “Inside the Labor Department’s Legal Brain Drain,” discussed the exodus of longtime lawyers at the DOL and how they might be replaced, including whether there would be a focus on external lawyers from big law.

“I think the reality is that the government compensation is typically significantly lower than what is available to such lawyers in the private sector,” Jacob said.

Based in Washington, DC, Jacob represents financial services companies including banks, investment managers, health care payors, and insurers, as well as other employers, in class action and other litigation concerning ERISA and other labor and employment matters.
