Korean News Daily JoongAng Covers North Korean Students’ US Visit Hosted by O’Melveny1월 28, 2013
JoongAng, a leading Korean-language news daily published in the US and Korea, recently followed eight North Korean refugee students during their week-long visit to Los Angeles sponsored by O’Melveny & Myers LLP. Firm Chair Brad Butwin announced the program in November while in South Korea to launch the Firm’s Seoul office.
The two JoongAng articles, “North Korean High School Students Visit LA” (January 28, 2013) and “North Korea Refugee Students Visiting Los Angeles, ‘Want to Travel Around the World’” (January 29, 2013), recap the students’ activities during the week, which included a tour of the UCLA campus.
“We will never forget your kind support,” said one student in an article.
"I hope they have a great time and a meaningful experience during their one-week trip," O’Melveny counsel Youngwook Shin, a member of O’Melveny’s Korea Practice who led the planning for the students’ visit, told JoongAng.
In an earlier JoongAng article, “O'Melveny Sponsoring Refugee Students from North Korea” (January 22, 2013), Jinwon Park and Sungyong Kang of O’Melveny’s Seoul office discussed the firm’s commitment to being a socially responsible member of the Korean community.
