O’Melveny’s Lash Authors Article on Critical Need for Pro Bono Immigration Work

December 01, 2016

O’Melveny’s managing counsel for public interest and pro bono David Lash authored “The Critical Need For Pro Bono Immigration Work,” the latest in a series of bi-weekly columns for Above the Law, published December 1, 2016.

“The promise of our democracy is built on the effectiveness of the judicial system,” Lash writes in the article.

He describes the crucial role lawyers play in ensuring due process and fairness for immigrants facing the possibility of deportation.

“The judicial system, simply, will not work unless those in it have lawyers to represent them…Substantial attention is needed to deliver fairness to those who soon are to need it the most,” he concludes.

Lash serves as managing counsel for pro bono and public interest services, overseeing the firm’s national and international pro bono program. He is a frequent contributor to publications around the country and a guest speaker on issues related to access to justice, legal aid, combating poverty, and more. He resides in O’Melveny’s Los Angeles office.
