Law360: G-20 Summit Unlikely to Halt Trump’s China Crusade

At this week’s G-20 summit in Argentina, US President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold a meeting after months of escalating trade tensions. The meeting’s potential to achieve progress is a source of much speculation.

“The president just has a very unusual and different way of approaching negotiations of any kind,” said O’Melveny partner Ted Kassinger. “It’s true that he is transactional, likes to make deals, and he likes to create uncertainty and a somewhat chaotic environment before deals are cut. He likes to try to find points of leverage.”
