Law360 Interviews Denis Brock on International Arbitration Trends

April 27, 2016

Denis Brock, chairman of O’Melveny’s international disputes and arbitration practice and the regional head of litigation for Asia, was profiled in a Q&A, which ran April 27, 2016 in Law360. He spoke about what attracted him to international arbitration work—the variety of disputes that are referred to as arbitration—and what trends he sees affecting his practice—“arbitration has, to some extent, become commercial litigation behind ‘closed doors’ but before a tribunal in which the parties have had a hand in selecting.” Brock also gave advice for attorneys considering a career in international arbitration: “Do not be misled into believing that arbitration is some special mystic art requiring Svengali-like skills. A good litigator can adapt to conducting arbitration.”
