Law360: Okla. Opioid Case “Should End Here And Now,” J&J Says

July 03, 2019

In a motion filed on Wednesday, Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Pharmaceuticals claimed Oklahoma’s performance in the last five weeks has failed to prove the companies created an opioid crisis. The companies asked Oklahoma Judge Thad Balkman to rule in their favor and reject Oklahoma’s $17 billion settlement.

“The state’s campaign to reap an unwarranted and historically unprecedented windfall at Janssen’s expense should end here and now,” the motion stated. “From the start of this trial, the state’s target has been Janssen’s pocketbook — not its products.”
