Law360 Pulse: O'Melveny, Gibson Dunn Join Gender Equity Campaign In LA

O'Melveny has pledged to increase gender diversity in its Los Angeles office as part of the “Call to Action 2021,” a joint initiative of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, this article reported.
Law360 noted that the two organizations have recommended several ways that firms can increase the number of women and LGBTQ lawyers in positions of leadership, including “the 30% rule. . .while hiring, called the Mansfield Rule,” and “creating sponsorship programs that go beyond regular mentorship.”
16 firms have signed onto the campaign so far, the publication reported. The initiative is set to include opportunities firm leaders to come together and collaborate on the best ways to improve diversity.
