June 09, 2016

O'Melveny partners Robert Plesnarski and Eric Sibbitt, along with associates James M. Harrigan and Zhao Liu, co-authored the article, "Regulation Crowdfunding: What You Need To Know," which appears in the June 1, 2016, edition of The Recorder. The piece provides an overview of regulation crowdfunding, a new set of rules from the US SEC that allows private companies to raise as much as US$1 million in a year without an expensive registration. "The new regulation...offers startups and other businesses a new means to raise growth capital. It also means a new wave of financial intermediaries focused on equity crowdfunding transactions can finally open for business," the authors write.

Sibbit, who is based in the firm’s San Francisco office, along with Plesnarski and Harrigan, who are based in Washington, DC, are members of O’Melveny’s Capital Markets Practice. Liu also resides in the Washington, DC office and is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department.
