Lexology: Competition Compliance 2021 - European Union

May 14, 2021

O’Melveny partner Riccardo Celli, of counsel Christian Peeters, counsel Philippe Noguès, and associates Maude Vonderau and Rebecca Evans authored the European Union section of Lexology’s Competition Compliance 2021.  The publication is part of the prestigious Getting The Deal Through series, the leading reference guide for jurisdiction-specific antitrust legislation and enforcement practice.

Offering in-depth insight into the mechanics of EU competition law as it is interpreted and applied by the European Commission and the EU Courts, the section provides comprehensive guidance for in-house counsel and private practitioners on one of the most relevant antitrust regimes in the world.

The authors identify key compliance risks and mitigation strategies related to horizontal and vertical arrangements, market dominance, merger control, and joint venture agreements.  Leveraging decades of EU competition experience, they also detail how to navigate European Commission investigations, with a specific focus on immunity/leniency applications and settlement procedures in light of past precedents and emerging enforcement trends.
