Mealey’s Insurance: US High Court Refuses To Review No Coverage Ruling In Suit Arising From COVID-19

The US Supreme Court declined to hear Bel Air Auto Auction’s appeal of a Fourth Circuit decision in favor of Great Northern Insurance Co. relating to COVID-19 business losses. The Maryland car auction company, which claimed that its property damage and business interruption costs from the pandemic qualified for insurance coverage under its policy with Great Northern, petitioned the high court to review its case after the Fourth Circuit declined to rehear its appeal in July. Great Northern is represented by Jonathan D. Hacker of O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
