Ms. JD Spotlights Successful Women Partners at O'Melveny3月 13, 2015
O’Melveny recently was spotlighted in a Ms. JD article titled “Leadership, Partnership, and Women in the Law: How This Firm Got it Right.” As a firm that has been named a best law firm for women and that recently promoted a partnership class comprised of 40% women, Ms. JD wanted to learn about the steps O’Melveny is taking to help women lawyers thrive and advance at the Firm. The piece highlighted the Firm’s focus on “strengthening women’s representation and influence in equity partnership and leadership” and efforts to “lead the profession in supporting flexible work arrangements and paid parental leave” for women and men.
The article notes that the question of whether the dual demands of motherhood and being on track for partnership can be managed “continues to loom at the forefront of discussions on motherhood and the law,” and observes that “[w]hile many firms tout their options for flexible or reduced schedule work arrangements for new parents (mostly mothers), this often comes with the notion that making partner or taking a leadership role at the firm may no longer be a viable option."
