Multiple Outlets Cover O’Melveny’s Representation of Disney in ‘Zootopia’ Ruling
July 12, 2017
The Hollywood Reporter and The Recorder detailed a ruling by US District Court Judge Michael Fitzgerald in a July 11, 2017, decision in a copyright complaint against Disney surrounding its Oscar-winning animated film “Zootopia.” The California judge ruled the plaintiff, who had alleged Disney had taken the idea for “Zootopia” from work he had previously pitched, hadn’t presented enough evidence to make a plausible claim for infringement.
Disney is represented by O’Melveny partners Dan Petrocelli and Bo Pearl. Petrocelli is the Chair of the firm’s Trial Practice Committee and Pearl is the managing partner of the Century City office. Both have a broad-based litigation practice representing clients across a wide spectrum of industries.
