New York Law Journal: New York Trailblazers - Leah Godesky

September 29, 2020

O’Melveny partner Leah Godesky has been named to the New York Law Journal’s list of 2020 “New York Trailblazers.”

Godesky told the publication she likes to “roll up [her] sleeves and learn everything there is to know about whatever particular subject matter [she] happens to be litigating” and described herself as a “temporary specialist.”

In 2019, Godesky represented Kesha in obtaining key documents from Sony in her ongoing legal battle with former producer Lukasz Gottwald and helped secure a summary judgment for two Fox subsidiaries that accused Netflix of poaching their executives. She has also served as co-counsel alongside the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project as part of her pro bono practice.

Her pro bono work has underscored the importance of nurturing female litigators, New York Law Journal reported. “We’re seeing more and more women trial lawyers leading these big above-the-fold cases,” Godesky said. “I hope it continues to shift.”
