O’Melveny Lawyers Referenced in Library of Congress Update on Natural Resources Regulation in Indonesia

March 09, 2012

A March 9, 2012, report by the Library of Congress provides an analysis of Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mining Resources (ESDM) recent passage of a regulation that will ban the export of some raw materials. The report quotes from a February 20, 2012, client alert titled “Indonesian Mining Industry Reacts to New Decree on Mineral Processing and Refining” by O’Melveny & Myers partner Joel Hogarth and counsel Ratih (Ipop) Nawangsari. The lawyers commented on how “although the 2014 ban was established under the Mineral and Coal Mining Law (Law 4/2009), the May 2012 deadline for arranging new export deals came as a surprise to some in the business world who expected to be able to set up export deals until 2014.”
