O’Melveny Shortlisted for The Asian Lawyer Life Sciences All-Star Award

January 28, 2014 O’Melveny & Myers has been named a finalist for The Asian Lawyer’s All-Star Firm award in the Life Sciences category. The winner in each of the nine industry categories -- Funds, Banking and Finance; Consumer; Energy; Infrastructure; Life Sciences; Real Estate; Technology, Media and Communications; and Transportation -- along with the two individual All-Star honorees per category, will be announced at the awards dinner to held March 5, 2014, at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong.

O’Melveny has been involved in some blockbuster life sciences deals recently, including representing BGI-Shenzhen in an industry-altering merger with Complete Genomics, Inc., the first successful acquisition of publicly listed US company by a Chinese company, which closed in March 2013. The O'Melveny deal team was led by partners Paul Scrivano and Wendy Pan.

O’Melveny also represented China Kanghui Holdings in the biggest purchase ever of a Chinese medical device company for its time--its US$816 million all-cash sale to Medtronic, Inc. The merger closed in October 2012 and was led partners Paul Scrivano and Portia Ku, counsel Nima Amini and Vincent Lin, and associate Noah Kornblith.
